The Bahamas archipelago spreads across 700 islands and 2,400 cays in the crystal-clear Atlantic, offering Caribbean driving adventures with distinctive British colonial charm. While most visitors explore by boat, the main islands of New Providence and Grand Bahama provide excellent driving experiences.

Nassau, the capital on New Providence, blends colorful colonial architecture with modern beach resorts. The pastel buildings of Bay Street, historic Fort Charlotte, and the Queen's Staircase carved from limestone showcase the island's heritage. Paradise Island, connected by bridges, features Atlantis resort's marine habitats and water parks.

Grand Bahama offers excellent road trips through Lucayan National Park with underwater cave systems, Gold Rock Beach (one of the Caribbean's most beautiful), and the Garden of the Groves botanical paradise. Freeport provides duty-free shopping and Port Lucaya Marketplace entertainment.

The Out Islands—Eleuthera, Exuma, Andros, and Abaco—offer more adventurous driving on quieter roads past pink sand beaches, swimming pigs of Big Major Cay, and world-class bonefishing waters.

Bahamian cuisine celebrates fresh seafood, particularly conch prepared as cracked conch, conch salad, or conch fritters. Bahamian rock lobster and fresh fish with peas and rice represent local favorites. Rum punch and Kalik beer accompany every beach day.

Drive on the left in the Bahamas. Roads on main islands are generally good, though some Out Islands have rougher conditions. An International Driving Permit is required along with your national license. Temporary local permits can be obtained for stays over three months.
