The Great Ocean Road stretches 243 kilometers along the southeastern coast of Australia, between the cities of Torquay and Allansford in the state of Victoria. Built by returned soldiers between 1919 and 1932, it was dedicated to those who fell during World War I, making it the world's largest war memorial.
Driving this iconic route, you'll encounter some of Australia's most breathtaking natural wonders. The Twelve Apostles, towering limestone stacks rising from the Southern Ocean, are the undisputed highlight. Although erosion has reduced their number to eight, these formations remain awe-inspiring, especially at sunrise and sunset when the golden light illuminates the ochre-colored cliffs.
Beyond the Twelve Apostles, the road winds through lush rainforests of the Otway Ranges, where you can walk among ancient trees and spot koalas in their natural habitat. The charming seaside town of Lorne offers excellent cafes and surf breaks, while Apollo Bay serves as a perfect overnight stop with its relaxed atmosphere and fresh seafood restaurants.

Speed limits are strictly enforced, with heavy fines for speeding.
